Consultant Surgeon

I am a consultant general surgeon with a specialist interest in malignant and benign disease of the liver, gallbladder, bile duct and pancreas.  My NHS practice involves surgery for abdominal wall hernias as well as the full range of operations for the above conditions, from relatively minor gallbladder surgery to the most complex major abdominal cancer resections.  I am one of the most experienced robotic surgeons in the UK for liver, pancreatic and gallbladder surgery.

I graduated from Cambridge University with honours and undertook general surgical training in the East Midlands.   I undertook a period of full time research and was awarded a higher degree.  I completed training in all aspects of general, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in Leicester with a year of advanced fellowship training at the Birmingham Liver Unit.  I took up a consultant surgeon post in Southampton in 2018.

I have extensive experience in the surgical treatment for inguinal (groin) hernias and any other hernia affecting the abdomen.  In selected cases I can offer treatment under local anaesthetic.

I am one of a small team of specialist liver, pancreatic and gallbladder surgeons based in Southampton who are qualified to offer comprehensive treatment for all problems affecting the gallbladder however complex.  This includes gallstones but also cancer and complex surgery to the bile ducts and adjacent liver, which can occasionally arise unexpectedly during surgery.
