State of the art minimally invasive surgery

Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery is the cutting edge of next-generation surgery.  It gives us the opportunity to carry out more surgery than ever through minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques from the most straightforward to the most complex.  Patients benefit directly by recovering more quickly with shorter length of stay and fewer complications compared to traditional open surgery

Which procedures can be done with robotic surgery

Mr Arshad offers the full range of liver, pancreatic and gallbladder surgery using the robotic platform.  If there is a reason that robotic surgery cannot be offered, then he will discuss this with you at your appointment.  Traditional open or keyhole surgery may then be offered instead.

Training and experience

Mr Arshad founded the robotic liver and pancreatic surgery programme in Southampton in 2022, and since then has completed nearly 200 major robotic resections on the liver and pancreas.  He is one of the most experienced robotic liver and pancreatic surgeons in the UK and has presented his outcomes and experience at national and international surgical meetings.

Robotic technology

We use the Intuitive Da Vinci XI for all of our procedures.  This is the "gold standard" robotic platform for major robotic surgery and is used all over the world.
